JetBlue Card Review

May 20, 2020

Who is the JetBlue card for?

The JetBlue card is a great card for travelers that live in northeastern areas such as New York or Boston. The rewards are easy to attain and are high tier for those that travel using Jetblue frequently. If you’ve never flown with JetBlue before but are interested in traveling to over 100 destinations throughout the U.S., Latin America, and the Caribbean, it may be in your best interest to take a look at what this card has to offer.

It should be noted that this card has a rare fixed APR rate compared to most credit cards that have variable APR rates. What this means is depending on your credit score, annual income per year, and where you live among other things, you will be placed within a certain APR bracket. This makes this credit card enticing for some since a job could make your APR rate lower than other credit cards.

When you start to look at how quickly you can rack up quick rewards points, this card only starts to become better. Cardholders can get the best experience possible for no annual fee with this JetBlue card. We recommend a card of this caliber to all beginner international travelers.

Rewards Rate

With the easy ability to rack up 3x points through eligible JetBlue purchases, it wouldn’t take very long to surpass the 10,000 bonus points awarded in the first 90 days when you spend $1,000. The inflight savings can also eclipse 50% on cocktails and select foods. Speaking of food and drink, this card rewards an automatic 2x points back for all dining restaurants and grocery orders. Finally, the card rewards every other dollar spent with an additional point. When you combine all of these point earnings together, it is easy to see why so many people are such huge fans of this card.

If you want to spend your points as luxurious as possible using this card, it may be strategic to book flights for free. The TrueBlue points can be used for one-way and round-trip flights with a single traveler or with family. If you and your family are wanting to earn more TrueBlue points more quickly, you can sign up your family with one person being labeled the head of the household. By doing this, there would be no hassle of transferring points to another account nor would there be any fees to pay for an added user to the account.

The flexibility this card offers is top-notch. When transferring points from other cards, JetBlue is able to transfer points from many different banking rewards programs. Although they all differ in transaction points, JetBlue offering this flexibility is the real perk. Some of these include:

  1. Chase Ultimate Reward
  2. Citi ThankYou Points
  3. Amex Membership Rewards
  4. Capital One miles

You don’t see this kind of flexibility with most cards, and for that, the JetBlue card really does stand out.

Benefits and Credits

The JetBlue card comes with tons of in-flight perks. If you are a traveler or someone that must travel across the world for work, this card aligns exactly with what you’re looking for.

When redeeming points with your JetBlue card, cardholders can experience a first class luxury flight with JetBlue Mint class. This comes with fully lie-flat seats, and occasionally, their very own suite. This comes in great handy for those that enjoy their own privacy on longer trips. When you decide to become a Mint passenger, you also have access to priority check-in, early boarding, two free checked bags, and a preferred baggage claim upon landings. Some of the in-flight benefits include free Wi-Fi with unlimited entertainment, tapas menus, and amenity kits. It should be noted that the Mint class is offered on routes originating in Boston and New York (JFK airport).

As previously stated, the JetBlue card comes with 3x the reward points when ordering things off JetBlue’s menu. The real steal of having this card is the 50% off you would get from ordering things for cheap in JetBlue quarters. When you combine both of these together, you get a deal not matched by many cards.

For every year you are a member of the JetBlue card, you are awarded with 5,000 TrueBlue points. These points can be used however you like, and would most likely be able to cover a trip to the Carribean for a nice getaway. On top of this, the JetBlue card has no foreign transaction fees. If you were interested in going to abroad more than often, you would benefit greatly from these no foreign transaction fees.

With a rare fixed APR rate, this card really is set apart from the rest. This APR rate is determined from annual income, living status, and credit scores among other things.

By having TrueBlue benefits with this card, you gain access to no blackout dates, never ending expiring points, redeeming for any seats on a plane, and points pooling.

Welcome Bonus

Once you spend $1,000 within your first 90 days of account opening, new cardholders will gain 10,000 bonus TrueBlue points to spend. These points can be redeemed any number of ways, from selecting a luxurious flight from to the Bahamas, or Barbados, or the Cayman Islands, you can’t go wrong with spending these free points.

Annual Fee

All of the benefits associated with this card come with no annual fee. The only thing necessary would be to become a cardholder, and every benefit listed would come free of charge.

Conclusion

For those that enjoy their flights in comfort and style, this could very well be the airline and card for you. Especially for those longer flights that make people uncomfortable when sharing tight spaceswith two other passengers, the Mint passenger rewards may just be the perfect fit for the frequent international travelers. To conclude, the JetBlue card is a great for travelers that want to enjoy the ride, not just getting to the destination. Coupled with the added benefits of the card, it is easy to see why people would fall in love with a card like this one.
