The Chase Freedom Unlimited is a cashback credit card. It is not a metal card and is geared towards daily purchases and balance transfers. Chase does offer two metal cards, the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve. These cards are geared more towards travelers and heavy spenders. Here is a comparison of the three cards.

Should I get a metal or plastic card?
A metal card has a few advantages over a plastic card: it looks more luxurious and unique and is far more durable than a plastic card. However, for the same reasons, metal cards are harder to destroy after expiry (most need to be mailed back to the bank) and may get flagged through metal detectors. However, there are no substantial technical differences. If you are not a big spender and want a simple rewards program that makes balance transfers, the Chase Freedom Unlimited is the best option. If you are a moderate traveler and don’t want to make balance transfers, the Chase Sapphire Preferred will work better for you. If you are a big spender and traveler and believe that the rewards program will justify the hefty annual fee, the Chase Sapphire Reserve is the best fit. Therefore, you should choose your Chase credit card based on which fits your lifestyle, not the finish.
