Cash back credit cards can be very beneficial for earning rewards and making it worth it.  As long as your balance is paid on time, the credit cards will not cost much unless there is an annual fee, and the rewards can make your life easier on top of building a good credit score.  To get all of the benefits possible, it is important to understand the costs and benefits of each credit card.  But, ultimately, the first step in the process is to figure out how to activate the account.

What are the steps to activate your new Credit One Platinum Plus card?

After receiving your card in the mail, the activation process is fairly straightforward and can be accomplished quickly.  The credit card cannot be activated online to ensure your security and prevent fraud or identity theft.  All new cards from Credit One must be activated over the phone.  The correct number to call will be attached to your new card with a sticker and is always toll-free.  Your Platinum Plus card must be activated within 14 days of receiving it in the mail.  If this is not done, you will need to get a new card that can then be activated.  The card will not be available for any transactions until the account is activated over the phone.

What can you do once your Credit One Platinum Plus card is activated?

The main benefit of this credit card comes from earning 1% cash back on several categories of purchases.  These include everyday purchases like gas and groceries, as well as billed expenses such as phone, internet, and cable.  All of these categories are a large part of the average person’s monthly expenses, so the cash back earned from this credit card will add up over time and be very beneficial in the long run.  Additionally, Credit One offers up to 10% cash back from certain partnered merchants.  To see who this currently applies to, it is best to check the Credit One website.  These change frequently and new offers are constantly added, so if you want to benefit the most it is important to stay up to date on these retailers.

What will it cost to own a Credit One Platinum Plus card?

The Platinum Plus card has an annual rate of $39.  On top of that, there is a 23.99% APR which can vary based on the Prime Rate. If you need to get a cash advance, there is either an 8% fee or $5, depending on which one is more.  Additionally, there is a foreign transaction fee (FTF) of 3% in US dollars for all purchases made internationally.

How do you qualify for the Credit One Platinum Plus card?

The good news is that if you received the Platinum Plus card in the mail, Credit One has already determined that you prequalify for the card and all you need to do is activate it.  If you have not received the card but are interested in applying for one, you will need at least an average credit score, which can be checked through their website or others such as Credit Karma.  All you need to do to see if you qualify is to put in your information into their website.  It will then tell you your chances of being approved for the Platinum Plus card.  In addition, it will suggest other cards that you qualify for and may be better based on your credit and spending habits.
